A 2020 quarantine diary

To look for a dog friendly workplace has been a dream of mine for quite some time, I stopped thinking about it as TT grew older and requires less attention, he became way less active than he was a puppy. 2020 has been a weird year for everyone including us, but it somehow granted me an opportunity to stay closer to TT when I work and cook. I even got back into making a dog cake for his 7th birthday on May 13th.

On Jan 18 we came to the Millard Canyon Falls Trail with  2 other friends plus 4 extra humans, we ended up coming to this exact same trail again a few weeks later by accident because of a google map hiccup.

2019 recap

Somehow I stopped posting regularly for years, and yesterday I casually scrolled through phone photos because its been mad at me for weeks and sent out tons of notifications telling me to declutter, going through photos made me realized we actually had so much fun together in 2019, and every single moment is worth to be remembered. So here comes a long rambling recap of our 2019, when I looked back at pile of photos madness, they lit up memories i didn't know they were there and sparked joy in my heart, later I dug deeper and got all pictures out from my DSLR out as well.

We were at Vanalden Cave Trail on the first day of 2020 in late afternoon, to spoiled it first, I was pleasantly surprised by the sunset.

I think how late I updated this post maybe explains how Carrizo Plain kind of thrown me off back in April, it was still a great road trip, maybe I set the bar way too high after visited here 2 times in both 2015 and 2017, the fact that this national monument became famous and turned into a tourist spot in 2019 completely shattered my dream.

I am starting this post with Actaeas' funny face, he can always impress me with the range of his facial expressions, cracks me up everytime when I go through our pictures after the trip.

Devils Slide is an unfinished hike from last year.
On 10th I thought this could be a perfect timing to take this challenge again after a good rain in early February.

me and Actaeas went back to two trails to start our 2019, the end of 2018 was quite rough for both of us, a big dog attacked him at the park just before Thanksgiving, Actaeas gone through a surgery so we stayed in for a month, and than right before Christmas I cracked my ribs so that's that.

100°F Weekend Pool Party Reunion

We moved! Visit the same post on the new site here:

We live by the ocean so our house is not equipped with AC, and normally we never need it, so record-high temperatures across Southern California few weeks ago turned our place into a living oven/hell. But guess what! 7/7 is one of our best days this year, because we got invited to a house pool party right when LA hit broiling temperatures, and guess who is coming to the party?

June at Palos Verdes Bluffs and Rubio Canyon Trail

what's up guys! let's talk about June! I have been taking Actaeas out to self dog wash store for quite a while, I finally decided I can't handle having a massive hair storm in my house every time after a shower, I still prefer to give him a bath by myself but dealing with cleaning its just too much.

June river crossing fun at Michael D Antonovich Trail

Actaeas just had a bobble bath few days ago, he was all sparkly and puffy, but yeh, not sure what's going on in my brain, I decided to take a walk around here at Michael D Antonovich Trail brought us tones of river crossing fun which also cause dirty paws and muddy tummy of course...

Bill Cull to Monrovia Canyon Falls

we went to Arcadia without a plan that afternoon. I've been searching for a new good hike in Los Angeles after I came back from Kauai, but view I experienced and  trails I hiked in Hawaii and Iceland just made LA landscapes look extra sad, I blacked out every time I opened up trail websites.
this made me started to wonder if traveling is a good influence to myself or actually the other way around.

one of the weekends in March we came all the way to Tahquitz Peak to catch the last snow, that day we human failed to wake up early so after 2 hours of driving we ended up started to hike around 1pm after dealing with the forest permit and parking pass.

Dawn Mine and Sunset Trail Loop

We moved! Visit the same post on the new site here:

>> New Website <<

we came to Dawn Mine Trail one day in February, this trail is listed as hard on All Trails website, but base on most of the reviews, people
think this is a moderate and beautiful hike, and I second that, Dawn Mine could very well be our new favorite hike.

Presidents Day road trip (1) - once again at Kalso Dunes

I could call this trip as a second attempt after last year memorial weekend failure

long story short, I lost my phone, and I was too scared to continue my journey without technology.

so here we were once again stopping by Kelso Dunes to find my lost phone and stand up from where I fell, there was not much excitement but driving between LA to Las Vegas, Kelso Dunes is a cool place to check out also for some leg stretches.

we did this trip way before Thanksgiving, our second visit to Alabama hills!
this 2 days trip was definitely one of the most stunning hikes we've ever did in this year.

November 28, 2017

rock climbing at Black Star Canyon trail

Black Star Canyon trail located in eastern Orange County, was a fun hike picked by James on Oct 19, I was too naive to even think there will be some river crossing involved in mid October... nah!

fast forward an August phone diary

I barely use my camera in this August, photos in this post are all from an old iphone 5S.
I always wanted to visit Theodore Payne Nursery, but we missed the best timing during spring to see the super bloom around their wild flower trail, on a pretty lazy early August day we're finally here.

October 29, 2017

all about May - Vasquez Rocks Loop/Wildwood Regional Park

on May 7 we found this cool place call Vasquez Rocks with striking rock formations located near Santa Clarita, witch reminded me a lot of Alabama hills we went 2 years ago, its not as big but closer to LA.
