I barely use my camera in this August, photos in this post are all from an old iphone 5S.
I always wanted to visit Theodore Payne Nursery, but we missed the best timing during spring to see the super bloom around their wild flower trail, on a pretty lazy early August day we're finally here.

I have to admit it was a horrible decision to come in summer, everything were pretty much dead
even the employee at the nursery discouraged us to go up due to the heat, and we did come back down after 30 minutes found not much to see up there but blazing sun...
its a good thing they also allow dogs in the nursery, Actaeas really enjoyed sniffing around.
the plant collection here was just okay, but we found a lot of different types of sage, they are great with pumpkin and chicken :)
mid August we visited Old LA Zoo, the old zoo area wasn't easy to park, crowded and smells funny, we didn't stay for too long but hiking up to a trail next to it
and we got to this view point that I finally wish I had my DSLR with me
its not like a must go hike, but finding this spot without any expectation was definitely rewarding
the end of summer we went back to lower winter creek trail, the last visit was almost 4 years ago!
I was hopping to see that "old dog young dog several stupid dogs please drive slowly" sign, sadly its no where to be found... not sure if that offended anyone, but with my dark humor I thought its really funny.
and surprisingly Actaeas still remembered this place perfectly, once he got off the car, Actaeas just walked straight toward the trail head while I was still looking around.
It was a decent hike overall, just like what I remembered.
more photos to post, wish I can finish them by the end of this year
