Tiffy's 14th Birthday at Pepperdine University with Charlotte Russe

So here comes our big sister Tiffy's birthday! after a year it seems just like yesterday!

me and also the Ti family, we've been through so many big changes and many ups and downs in our lives this year, suddenly everything went crazy out of control.

yet, we can be knocked down by the things that strike us, or we can learn from them in a positive way, ups and downs make our lives worth living, and hey, good news is that we are all still together, and we need to keep running through them, this is the reason why I made this cake, not only for Tiffy,

for all of us

here are all the birthday cake articles

if you don't want to run through this article for 30 minutes without seeing a single dog
you can scroll all the way down to the bottom

I made a dogie Charlotte Russe for Tiffy's birthday this year, instead of doing mousse in the center, I decided to swap it with liver cake so it's easier to transport without a cooler box

i've already run chicken liver through my gainer, if your dog allergic to gluten you should try rice flour

simply put everything in a mixing bowl

add a bit splash of milk and blend to a sponge mixture consistency

remember to dust the pan before pouring the mixture in so you will not have big trouble to get your cake out later on
bake at 350F for 45 minutes

done! let's let it cool for a while and move on shall we?

I did not want to use too much sugar for this cake, so instead of doing traditional ladyfingers, I made chiffon cake for the outer rim

put yokes and oil into same bowl

added in milk

and then flour, beat until well blended

move on to egg whit with another bowl, make sure it's not contact with any oil or water

with clean beaters, beat until stiff peaks form

add a 3rd of the whites into original batter, mix well, then fold in remaining whites, don’t stir it vigorously, you don't want to pop those foamy bobbles you just made, they would be deflated otherwise

gently spoon into an ungreased pan, knock the pan on the table to encourage unwanted big air bubble to raise up

bake at at 320F for 55 minutes

done! immediately invert and let the cake cool

for peanut butter cookie, I only need one so I  prepared tiny little portion, with the recipe below you can make about 18 cookies

300g flour
250g unsalted peanut butter
245g milk
1 egg
a little bit of honey

told you it's tiny ;)

nothing fancy here, just mix everything together

i used the rest of the dough to make some small ones

bake under 350F for 20 minutes

I've already started to work on dolls a day before, my desk was a bloody mess so let's skip this step

oh... calm down, I know this doesn't look like Tiffy at all...

yap! I did all of them this time!

this is my 3rd time making, did not have any tool still, what i used was just a stake knife

can you see the nostril? :) full with details!

i still need to figure a way out to paint them, because these dolls can't contact with any water, they melt, risky move here

dared not go any further

also, I think I have NO IDEA how Actaeas looks like...

I had a really hard time making him a night before (facepalm)

I also made strawberry jam, it's without using any sugar or lemon juice, just cooked the fruit until sticky

when cakes are cool completely, ran a knife around pans and took out 2 cakes

pizza cutter came in handy for this task

this cake was inspired by The Cake Bible: Ethereal Pear Charlotte

and... apparently I ran into a math issue, I did not have enough pieces to go around my liver cake

so I cut each of them in half  like a mean cutting corners baker will do

jam is for glue by the way, tasted amazing with chiffon cake! I ate A LOT during the process

fancy ribbon on just to impress people

I did the icing with k9 cakery's yogurt royal icing mix, without using 100 pounds of sugar

at the end, let's put those little cuties on top, and we are good to go!

we went to Pepperdine University once again because we had no near by off leash place with grass to go in LA

previous article sits here, but more about Salacia

Ti mom asked me if she needs to buy a cake for this party, pufff... are you kidding me?! you held Tissue's Birthday before I came back to LA early this year that's why she didn't get one, or I will keep making cakes until you feel sick about this

Happy Birthday!!

when it's hard to control your dog next to a cake, you know that cake must be freaking delicious

I think that took us 30 minutes to settle them, yeh I am using the same photo as the head one again, bite me

this lady just won't go away

we started to throw the outer strawberry chiffon to distract them so we can divide the liver cake
it worked just like distracting zombies by pushing your friend to them so you can run

center liver cake time!

everyone got his share

even the warps liked it, went out so quick!

we never have good luck with Pepperdine University, it's either too windy or too damn hot like this time

my last visit was really cold and I actually got sick after

Tinkerbell's doll was so tiny just like her

I do not recommend this place unless you are looking for grass for a windy/heat picnic party

play time is on!

yes, Tissue was wet, because she went into the lake before anyone could stop her

run sister run!

oh! Tissue did a fake move!

hey Tinkerbell, did you realize your sis is running to the right already?

last few photos for our birthday girl today

I will still make you cakes if your mom doesn't kidnap you and  move to other state next year

be healthy and keep smiling Tiffy!

pain demands to be felt, that's how makes us feel alive, we are all still holding hands
