Big Sur (1) - Garland Ranch Regional Park

This was the first time in Big Sur area, found several decent of leash places, so we headed north on Friday night as usual, instead of staying at Motel 6 located at King City, we picked the on near Monterrey, it's closer to the Garland Ranch Regional Park, also if we take Cabrillo Hwy south to Mill creek is faster believe it or not.

this park is easy to find with a lot of parking spots

it's huge with so many trails to explore, you can see signs at every intersections with trail names

we had them all wearing same collar with different colors just like a big family

this is a 4,500 acre park, some trails that are flat some ascend to 2000ft, horses are also allowed on many trails so we have to keep an eye on our furry friends.

I could say this is one of my favorite places to hike after been to so many places, It's beautiful, fun to explore, no too much people, also chill with lots of shades

wanted to find a waterfall so we went all the way up to the flat area by following a lady's instruction, took us 1 and half hours.

Tiru, you shouldn't drink your feet water

the top was an pretty big open area, Actaeas shot out like a bullet once, totally went out of my sight, he always acts like an ranger, trying way to hard to make sure our surroundings are safe, sometimes his searching radius just gone too big.

I found an behavior problem of his recently, he could get very aggressive when any Ti girls staring to bark at other dogs, and Actaeas really has an issue with Huskies (why... you guys looks so much a like), still trying to help him giving up being a knight.

Ti mom decided to go down this way because she thinks it's connected to the original route...

BUT HELL NO!!!!

to be fair, it does took us back to the path but ended up spending another 30 minutes wondering in the bushes.
spent 3 hours in the park, I was jealous of people who lives close by because I would love to come back often, worth to explore more

until Ti mom found the first tick on Tiffy...

we went back to Motel 6 and started to give them a brush, found 7 ticks on 5 of them, Tiru got bitten all over her body, ticks on Actaeas and Tiffy were killed before those bugs have a chance to start their feast, maybe long coat protected them, I am not sure.

I stared screaming that we have to give them a shower so we can make sure there is no more, IMMEDIATELY, so we drove to the nearest dog wash self service after Ti mom pull all the ticks out from her girl's armpits.

the machine provided 3 different types of shampoos, we all use the flee and ticks one with no hesitation, also bought flee and ticks preventions in store since it's about the time to give them another dose.

never thought about this could be our end of adventures that day, it's new, and fun when I think back (maybe not so much for pups), Ti dad killed the last survive tick when he was blow drying Tissue.

I wish I could love this place, but say good bye to Big Sur, we did not even dare to go to the Mill Creek the next day after we ran through ticks reports on the internet and did a great job scared ourselves out, not sure why this massive ticks attack never happen to us last year, but once is enough, Yikes!!
