Christmas Winter Dash(3) - Grand Lake/Idaho Springs/Golden of the Gods

Grand Lake was our last stop on Dec 27 before sunset, we drove around that area for a while, it is not easy to find a place to park by the lake.

I started to think about how long it will take Actaeas to grow his hair back after the fight because I was about to remove them around wounded area, I hope he learned his lessons...

I wish this is not the last time Actaeas using this harness because he secretly grew bigger the harness is almost too tight for him, I really like the design and durability of this product, we even got three other dogs buying the same harness Actaeas is wearing, I think Actaeas could be a great fashion icon amount dogs.
let's see how long it will take Ti mom to get this for Tinkerbell ;)

meetChi-Chi, a Formosan Mountain Dog!

guys! you really have to open your eyes, we are taking a photo here!

Actaeas started to have aggression issues (he was perfectly fine when he was 2), I am not quite sure where this came from, it just started last year after we moved, no dog ever attack him or anything bad happen to him.

at first it only happened when he was with other girls (like Ti family, he will act like he is trying to protect them), now Actaeas hates most of the male even when we are alone. I've spent so much time socializing him since he was little so it's kinda frustrating to be honest, he used to be really friendly, but now he will chase down other dogs even when they are really far away from us, I am still trying to build his confidence to help him succeed by teaching him to ignore others.

here are some articles I found helpful

you jump, I jump?

back to Grand Lake, we slowly stepped on ice after we saw people walking on it

there are so many footsteps, we should be safe I guess? I have no clue how thick this is...

let's go home and cut your hair young man!

On Dec 28, we went to Idaho Springs, a shaded trail near Mt. Evens.

as  you see, we did not get much sun that day, this hike was almost all the way up hills from beginning.

I did not take much photos because I could not feel my fingers

don't look at me like that, my phone battery died again...

we set down and rest for few times, Ti mom threw some treats into the snow to motivate Tiru hunting and tracking down food with her nose, Actaeas was excited too, but he is not a good hunter, ended up frustrated and did not find any treat.

I may give him some nose work classes at home once again when we have time, it will be a great indoor activity for dogs not just building confidence, it can burn lots of mental and physical energy too.

we were all packed the next morning, going south to Garden of the Gods!

say goodbye to the snow :(

on Dec 29, we were at one of the most beautiful places in Colorado.
there were a leash free area for dogs but you will have to park you car and walk a distance to it, we decided to put them all on leash and went to the main tourist trail.

there were plenty of parking, maps were everywhere along the road, yet people still get lost easily...

90% of people we met on the road either straggling reading the map or already give up on it, and we were one of them

I think the problem was because their maps never tell you which way is the North, and where are you facing at, so everytime you see the map you will run toward it just like you spot water in the desert, and after you get close, you'll be so confused and pissed.
