We moved! Visit the same post on the new site here:

to get a permit for the Wave Trail is our dream, after this place became famous, the only way to get in is by signing up for lottery, pay for $5 and cross your figures, even though I never understand the idea of gambling, I started to do so every month since last fall and still hopping for some luck :(

Ivy send me a post about Valley of Fire one day and told me this could be a alternative choice, I didn't think Valley of Fire could be comparable at that moment,  but I am really glad that we came.

after the hot springs hike a day before we thought doing some 1-2 milers will be relatively easy, so why not drop by before going back to LA? we drove into the state park without knowing how stunning this place could be, this land is like someone accidentally spilled red paint in the middle of nowhere. red rocks just popped out from underground.

there were signs saying "beware of heat" everywhere, but the day we visited was gloomy around 40-50F that I had to throw on three layers, I believe this area could hit 120F in summer time.

I am also pleased by how pet friendly this place is, dogs can go on any trail. we visited Elephant Rock first which does not offer much view compares to what you can see by cursing, we than dove back to Mouse's Tank trail.

and we step into sand again with surprise, turns Actaeas paws from white to pink

if I think back to those hikes I did in Zion, Valley of Fire will be like a least favorite child in the class, so silent like all the rocks absorb sound, also not much visitors, I really enjoyed massive and powerful of this quietness.

we drove north to the Fire Wave trail, our substitute for The Wave.

sun was playing hide and seek with us, strong wind made me freeze and couldn't stop trembling all the way, I stumbled like a zombie with hair covering my face or in my mouth if i ever dare to talk.

yet we got this glorious sight that I took a great picture of Actaeas, only if the sky granted more shapes of clouds I whispered in my head.

everytime when I look at all the photos I took after visited a place like this, I always feel like those pictures only captured 10 percent of the beauty I experienced back there, everything out of the frame were the rest of 90 percent, you can't really bring the whole feeling back by stills.

its like listening to songs by speaker or headphone will never be the same as hearing the true music being play at the theater, it gives you goose bumps, sometimes tears. and when you drive home,
try to pull the song out in your car, you don't think they are the same.

hey Actaeas you look like you are wearing pink fuzzy socks!

sun disappeared behind clouds, we took few quick pictures and kept walking down, there are small tags to follow along the trail.

and here we found our waves, people kept calling this a giant bacon after I posted on Facebook, this idea was never accrued to me when we were there.

but it does look like a good breakfast now when I am writing this post during midnight. bad idea.

and we moved on to our last destination, the White Domes Trail, the sight here did not strike us until I insisted to go down even more.

we encountered more tourists than we hope we would, couldn't stop nor get a clear photo without people in shot.

the original plan was to leave at 1 pm, but we were caught here and it was so hard to just glance through, also there are way more trails to discover, each of them are unique and worth the time, it deserve a second visit to finish off all other advance hikes.

we left around 4 pm and unfortunately hit a horrible traffic on our way back to reality, Actaeas was sleeping like an baby all the way, arrived home at 11pm, me exhausted, him fully charged again.
